let go.

it's okay to miss something

with no hope of ever getting it back

it shows that what was once everything

is now something with little to no impact

you find yourself forgetting

but the memory always comes back

you miss what it was

but it is no longer that

it's okay to miss someone

with no hope of getting them back

it shows that you once cared

the reason for your cries and your laughs

but they're no longer there

and you're okay with that

it's the memories that linger

and haunt us the most

the image of what once was

reappearing like a ghost

but just because you see it like that

does not mean that it remained that way

because people change

and memories fade like waves

they start so forceful, crashing on the shore

soon they'll leave and you'll want more

but as the boats go in

the waves lose energy

and in that energy lost

is a new beginning

so start today with a thought in mind

not that you're stuck, but that you can climb

use the momentum from those waves

to help you see brighter days

just because what once was, isn't no more

doesn't mean you should be stuck in a haze

it's okay to miss someone

their presence or their smile

but just because you lose one

doesn't mean you should cry

because people change

and memories fade into the sky

nothing stays the same

so why shed a tear for days spent in glee,

over things that you cannot change

instead of living happily
